Co-I Computer Science
Dr Michael Pound is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at University of Nottingham, where he is a member of the Computer Vision Laboratory research group. His research sits on the interface between Computer Science and Biosciences / Medicine, focusing on development and application of computer vision and machine learning approaches to plant phenotyping and medical imaging problems.
He specialises in 2D and 3D segmentation and object localisation approaches in high-resolution data. Most recently he has worked on techniques for image segmentation at multiple resolutions, improving the accuracy and efficiency of memory intensive approaches such as deep learning. He has also explored the use of human gaze tracking to better inform the training process of deep networks. His tools are always released as open source, many of which have accumulated thousands of downloads from the community and see widespread use.
